Savior soul

In the city of New Albion there are many cases of reincarnation. Reincarnation is the concept of a soul returning from Elysium to a human body with no recollection of past life memories.

The Concept[]

For example, Person A lives and dies during the Steampunk Era, they reincarnate into Person B who lives and dies during the Dieselpunk Era, they reincarnate into Person C who lives and dies during the Atompunk Era, and so forth.

There is no known limit as to how many times the soul can be reincarnated, however upon reaching Elysium each soul regains all memories in a cumulative state. They are then given the choice to reincarnate again or not.

Reincarnation is not bound by time, meaning that a soul can reincarnate backwards, as seen in the case of Adrian reincarnating into Connor. Reincarnation is also not limited to humans, as it has been confirmed that it is possible for Sam the Mouse to be reincarnated.

Known Reincarnations[]

There are multiple known reincarnations throughout the albums. Some are given significant names and others are simple chains of reincarnation.

Savior Soul[]

The savior soul is often the protagonist of an opera or the one who attempts to save others. The known characters making up the savior soul line are as follows:

Companion Soul[]

The companion soul often accompanies or helps the savior soul in some way. This is not always the case. This line is an example of how time does not affect reincarnation. The known characters making up the companion soul line are as follows:

Conflict Soul[]

The conflict soul often causes problems or conflict for the savior soul. The known characters making up the conflict soul line are as follows:

Elysium Soul[]

This reincarnation is revealed in a backwards message of a clip in The Creatures Speak. This soul line is an example of how reincarnation does not adhere to time. It starts with Adrian, who went off to Elysium with Lee Morgan. Upon dying, the soul travels back in time and reincarnates into Lee's father, Connor, in order to protect Lee from heading to Elysium.

Troubled Soul[]

Originally only known as comprising the Gambler and Jasper, Paul hinted that there was another character, introduced yet unknown, in this line before the Gambler, eventually confirming the identity of the unknown character to be the ghost boy, Jan, in the Q and A voice chat. The podcast revealed the existence of another character, Jordan, who was the first person in this line, and reveals that its pattern began when Jordan sought immortality and failed after his violent attempts to attain it were unsuccessful. Curiously, every reincarnation in this line either dies before finishing a task he's dedicated to (Jordan himself, as well as Jesse, experience this), or the soul (ironically, in the context of Jordan's goal) lives on after death and desperately wishes to rest (as with Jan and Jasper).
